Traffic Modifications for 2025 ALTRA Charles Street 12 and 2-Person Relay presented by Kelly Benefits

Charm City Run Events will be holding their annual Under Armour Charles Street 12 and 2-Person Relay presented by Kelly Benefits on Saturday, August 30, 2025. Please note that road closures and parking restrictions will be in effect from as early as 12:00 a.m. EDT on event day. Between 7:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., people should expect substantial traffic congestion and considerable delays along Charles Street and in the downtown area, which will not abate until after the conclusion of the running event.

The footrace kicks off at 7:30 a.m. in Towson (Baltimore County) on Kenilworth Drive, and continues as follows:

•Continue WEST toward Charles St.

•Turn LEFT onto Charles St in right lane

•Continue on Charles St South Bound in North Bound vehicle lanes (Against traffic) between 29th St and Montgomery Street

•At W 29th St the road bears right, course crosses 29th St to continue on Charles St. S. Bound.

•Turn RIGHT onto W Montgomery Street

•Turn LEFT onto S Hanover Street

•Turn RIGHT onto W Hamburg Street

•Turn LEFT onto Leadenhall Street

•Turn RIGHT onto West St

•Turn LEFT onto Sharp St

•Turn RIGHT onto W Ostend Street in AGAINST TRAFFIC lane

•Proceed to turnaround point just prior to Wicomico Street, turning from right to left to head toward S Paca Street

•Turn LEFT onto South Paca Street

•Turn RIGHT onto W West Street and proceed under Russell Street overpass

•Turn LEFT onto the Russell Street Service Drive

•Turn RIGHT onto W Hamburg Street

•Turn LEFT onto Ravens Walk at concrete bollards

In preparation for the event, one lane of traffic will be coned off for runners along the race route wherever possible with parking restrictions in effect until approximately 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2025. Motorists should be advised that temporary traffic stops WILL be implemented along the race route for the safety of participants, and traffic crossing over Charles Street will be heavily restricted when participants are present.

Transportation Enforcement Officers along with the Baltimore City Police will be stationed along the race route to help facilitate the movement of traffic. Commuters should be aware that temporary traffic stops will be implemented for the safety of participants. Citizens traveling in this vicinity should expect delays, allow additional travel time, and use alternate routes during the event. Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for pedestrians and changing traffic patterns, and are encouraged to use alternate routes
